Flamingo Gardens Orchid Society (FGOS) meets the second Monday of every month at which we feature:

• Informative & fun presentations on all aspects of orchid culture, with speakers frequently offering plants for sale. Some topics we learn about are:
  • Orchid history and the globalization of Orchids
  • Taking care of your Orchids
  • Native and/or  Species Orchids, Hybridizing, even growing from seeds
• A Show & Tell Table of breathtaking orchids. Members are encouraged to bring in their blooming plants for display & judging.
• Silent Auction of orchids grown by members
• Plant raffles

We try and change it up every now and then and have workshops on mounting or repotting orchids and there is a Holiday party at the end of the year.

Flamingo Gardens Orchid Society contributes to our communities.  We participate in the Flamingo Gardens Garden Festival & Bonsai Show. We sponsor the Flamingo Gardens International Orchid & Bromeliad Show. This show includes orchid plant judging by the American Orchid Society (AOS). Both Shows are held at Flamingo Gardens Botanical & Wildlife Sanctuary in Davie FL.  FGOS members volunteer for both of these events.

Once a year, FGOS holds an orchid auction to raise funds for the society.  We auction off over 125 orchids to enthusiasts and orchid addicts.  Yes, growing orchids can become an addiction! Plants come from many of the South Florida growers and you always go home with at least one!
